Breaking Barriers at Shell Energy Stadium: A New Era of Accessibility with RightHear

Photo of Darryl Minor standing with a white cane on steps of Shell Energy Stadium in background underlies text stating " Breaking Barriers at Shell Energy Stadium: A New Era of Accessibility with RightHear". The logo for the Lighthouse and RightHear appear at bottom.

“Me and the Lighthouse and the rest of the staff are here installing locator markers for visually impaired people that come out to the stadiums. This app helps us be more independent. It’s a blessing that the stadium is the first one to let us install it here. They have a heart for us—to come enjoy ourselves and be integrated into their stadium family.”

At The Lighthouse of Houston, we believe in a life without limits for people who are blind or low vision. That belief found a powerful echo at Shell Energy Stadium this week, where a historic installation has made headlines—and made history.

Together with RightHear, a global leader in indoor orientation technology, we’ve proudly helped bring the very first U.S. stadium to offer this groundbreaking accessibility tool for blind and visually impaired fans. Shell Energy Stadium—home to the Houston Dynamo and Dash—is now equipped with RightHear’s innovative beacons, just in time for next year’s FIFA World Cup excitement.

But behind this milestone is a person whose presence made it all the more meaningful.

Darryl Minor, a Lighthouse client and advocate, helped install the beacons firsthand. As he navigated the stadium, he offered a moving testimony to the independence this technology fosters.

This achievement reflects not just the innovation of RightHear, but also the Lighthouse’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and accessibility in public spaces. Shell Energy Stadium’s leadership welcomed us with open arms, offering more than just a platform—they offered community.

“As we pioneer accessibility initiatives like RightHear at Shell Energy Stadium, we’re not just celebrating milestones—we are redefining possibilities. This is about leading the way toward a future where inclusivity is ingrained in every public space.”

Jenna Dhayer, President of The Lighthouse of Houston

Together, we’re creating a world where accessibility is not an afterthought, but a foundation. Where every person—regardless of vision—can navigate, participate, and celebrate in spaces built with all in mind.
