Get ready for a summer full of learning, creativity, and fun! Our Performing Arts Week, scheduled from June 8th to June 10th, offers an enriching experience for students eager to explore the world of performance arts. Participants will have the unique opportunity to work with trained professionals, including the esteemed Open Dance Project, to learn the basics of performance arts and dance. This immersive program is designed to foster creativity, build confidence, and provide a solid foundation in various performance techniques. Join us and enjoy artistic growth and inspiration, where students can discover their potential and express themselves through the art of dance and performance.
The Lighthouse of Houston is excited to announce our Youth Specialty Camps for children and teens who are blind or low vision. These are a series of specialty mini-camps. Don’t miss this chance to empower your child through skill-building, creativity, and connection.
What: A series of themed mini-camps
When: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 9:30am-12:30pm.
Where: The Lighthouse of Houston. 3602 W. Dallas St., Houston, TX 77019
Cost: $10 Registration fee per week (snacks and beverages daily)

Dates
June 8-10 – PERFORMING ARTS (For school-aged youth, ages 5+) – Students will work with trained professionals, including the Open Dance Project, to learn basics of performance arts and dance. There will be a culminating opportunity of seeing the Audio Described performance of “CLUE” at The Hobby Center on June 11th at 7:30pm with tickets offered for the price of $26 each.
June 15-18 – STEAM (For school-aged youth, ages 5+) – Activities will include activities like gardening and a visit from Mad Science, as well as a visit to the Children’s Museum, among other accessible science activities.
June 22-24 – ACCESSIBLE GAMING CAMP (for teens ages 13-19) – Students will gain hands-on experience in accessible gaming, including a presentation from the Texas Workforce Commission.
July 13-15 – PODCASTING (for teens ages 13-19) – Find your voice and learn podcast basics with expert podcaster, and founder of Speke Podcasting, Freddy Cruz.
July 20-22 – ACCESSIBLE SPORTS (For school-aged youth, ages 5+) –Move your body and try something new with adaptive sports, including Ability Skateboarding and Scramble Judo.
July 27-29 – SHINE & DINE (For teens ages 13-19) – Clean-up, Dress-up, and Eat-up – This class is for visually impaired teens who would enjoy learning accessible tricks to manage their skincare and hygiene routines, organize clothing for easy matching and pairing, and appropriate table manners, culminating in a shared dining experience at the Galleria to “shine and dine.”
