DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a summer full of learning\, creativity\, and fun! Our Podcasting Week\, from July 13th to July 15th\, invites teen campers to find their voices as they learn podcasting basics with Freddy Cruz\, expert podcaster and founder of Speke Podcasting. Join us in immersive program designed to foster new skills\, grow\, and provide a solid foundation for podcasting. \nThe Lighthouse of Houston is excited to announce our Youth Specialty Camps for children and teens who are blind or low vision. These are a series of specialty mini-camps. Don’t miss this chance to empower your child through skill-building\, creativity\, and connection. \nWhat: A series of themed mini-camps \nWhen: Monday\, Tuesday\, Wednesday from 9:30am-12:30pm. \nWhere: The Lighthouse of Houston. 3602 W. Dallas St.\, Houston\, TX  77019 \nCost: $10 Registration fee per week (snacks and beverages daily) \n*Contact Kathy at 713-284-8424 or ktrimm@houstonlighthouse.org with any questions. \nDates \nJune 8-10 – PERFORMING ARTS (For school-aged youth\, ages 5+) – Students will work with trained professionals\, including the Open Dance Project\, to learn basics of performance arts and dance. There will be a culminating opportunity of seeing the Audio Described performance of “CLUE” at The Hobby Center on June 11th at 7:30pm with tickets offered for the price of $26 each. \nJune 15-18 – STEAM (For school-aged youth\, ages 5+) – Activities will include activities like gardening and a visit from Mad Science\, as well as a visit to the Children’s Museum\, among other accessible science activities. \nJune 22-24 – ACCESSIBLE GAMING CAMP (for teens ages 13-19) – Students will gain hands-on experience in accessible gaming\, including a presentation from the Texas Workforce Commission. \nJuly 13-15 – PODCASTING (for teens ages 13-19) – Find your voice and learn podcast basics with expert podcaster\, and founder of Speke Podcasting\, Freddy Cruz. \nJuly 20-22 – ACCESSIBLE SPORTS (For school-aged youth\, ages 5+) –Move your body and try something new with adaptive sports\, including Ability Skateboarding and Scramble Judo. \nJuly 27-29 – SHINE & DINE (For teens ages 13-19) – Clean-up\, Dress-up\, and Eat-up – This class is for visually impaired teens who would enjoy learning accessible tricks to manage their skincare and hygiene routines\, organize clothing for easy matching and pairing\, and appropriate table manners\, culminating in a shared dining experience at the Galleria to “shine and dine.” \nFor more information\, please contact Youth and Adult services at 713-284-8429 or email youthadultservices@houstonlighthouse.org. \nRegister Here.
